Dr. Paul Farber has been a professor of education in the College of Education and Human Development since 1986. I arrived here soon after completing a PhD in Philosophy and Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His teaching at Western has centered on the social-cultural and philosophical foundations of education, particularly concerning the ethics and politics of teaching and educational practice. Recent publications include Why Teaching Matters: A Philosophical Guide to the Elements of Practice (co-authored with Dini Metro-Roland), Bloomsbury 2020, “Education and the Technological Horizon,” in The Cambridge Handbook of Ethics and Education, Cambridge, 2024. He served for many years on the Ethics Center’s Advisory Board.
