What inspired you to join the Evaluation Lab?
My commitment to civic engagement and community-centered research inspired me to join the Evaluation Lab. From analyzing affordable housing challenges at the City of Kalamazoo, to producing a data-driven annual report for WMUK Radio, and leading a youth development initiative at KYD Network, I’ve consistently used my data and leadership skills to advance social impact. I’m passionate about supporting organizations that serve local communities, and I view program evaluation as a vital tool for equity-driven development.
How does your work in the Lab relate to your career goals?
Working at the Lab aligns perfectly with my goal of pursuing a career that combines data analysis with public service and community development. By working on program evaluations for non-profits and local government initiatives, I can apply my technical skills to real-world issues, while deepening my understanding of how evidence-based insights can contribute to our growth as a community. As a graduate student pursuing my masters in Applied Economics, this experience will further equip me to drive data-informed decisions in future roles in community and economic development.
