Bio:

Keith Hahn graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1992. He went on to graduate from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1995, serving on the Law Review as Technical Editor. He began his employment as an attorney in private practice specializing in municipal litigation, insurance defense litigation, and general municipal law.

He left private practice and worked in-house for a national insurance company, handling litigated claims and providing advice on policy coverage and obtained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation while in that position.

He was employed by Oakland University as an Assistant General Counsel from 2008 until being appointed General Counsel of WMU in 2022. He currently oversees the Office of Legal Affairs, Risk and Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Institutional Equity and the Ombuds Office. He also serves as WMU's FOIA Coordinator, HIPAA Privacy Officer, and chairs the University Policy Committee and Compliance Committee. Outside of WMU, he is the Legal Committee Chair and alternate Board member of the Michigan University Self-Insurance Corporation (M.U.S.I.C) and will chair the Legal Affairs Officers Committee of the Michigan Association of State Universities (MASU) as of June 2026.
