WMU Theatre Presents Utopia

Posted by Emily Duguay for Theatre
What if you could step into a world where people simply lived together — enjoying coffee, ice cream, love, and laughter — without the barriers that so often divide us? That’s the quiet beauty of Utopia.

Sitting in an outdoor coffee shop, a mother and daughter watch and listen to lives unfolding all around them. At nearby tables, people share dreams, tender moments, and quiet heartbreaks.

Playful, thoughtful, and full of joy, Utopia offers a chance to reflect on what it means to be together, to move away from isolation and into community and a life filled with small, shared delights. It’s a hopeful nudge toward the kind of world we could be building right now. Utopia is funny, tender, a little whimsical, and quietly profound.

Come spend an evening with us, surrounded by conversations that celebrate being human and in love — in all its messiness, wonder, and possibility.
“‘Utopia’ can be enjoyed as respite, a candy-coated breather from the horrors just outside our window... The dialogue, a bouquet of near non-sequiturs, tends toward the precious.” -New York Times
