Department of Family and Consumer Sciences celebrates excellence during award ceremony
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Alumni, faculty, staff and students were recognized for their accomplishments and excellence during Western Michigan University's Department of Family and Consumer Sciences' (FCS) biennial award ceremony.
During the award ceremony, FCS recognized 32 students who had proudly been awarded scholarships, demonstrating their academic dedication and passion for the field. The department also introduced three newly established honors: the FCS Torch Award, the Wavemaker Award, and the Compass Award.
The prestigious Torch Award, described as the pinnacle honor within the department, celebrates individuals who exemplify unwavering commitment to the mission and values of FCS. The Wavemaker Award, celebrates alumni from each FCS program unit who drive meaningful change and innovation in their professions. And the inaugural Compass Award, recognizes a faculty member who is committed to teaching and student achievement.

- Monica Louise (M.A.'04; B.S.'00) – Wavemaker Award (Family Science and Human Development)
