Nothing like flying the friendly skies of the WMU College of Aviation. Recently, Tom Thinnes, the College's director of recruitment, outreach and marketing, was booked on a short flight from Detroit to Kalamazoo when the captain's voice came over the intercom. It can't be him, Thinnes wondered.  But it was -- Cole Dillon, a 2018 recipient of a degree in aviation flight science who served as one of Thinnes' program ambassadors during his days at Western.

GAPDAC has been renamed to AARC

The Office of the University Ombuds, in conjunction with the Faculty Senate and Registrar's Office, would like to announce that the committees comprised of faculty that review hardship withdrawal, course grade and program dismissal appeals have changed their name. Moving forward, the committee formerly known as the Grade Appeal and Program Dismissal Appeal Committee (GAPDAC) will now be known as the Academic Appeals Review Committee (AARC). This change, put in place by an approved MOA, better reflects the mission of this committee and represents all of the appeals it reviews. Future messages from the Office of the University Ombuds regarding this committee will now be written as "AARC Availability", "AARC Instructor Form" and "AARC Non-attendance Form". Please contact the Ombud's office right away with any questions or concerns.
