Climate Fresk

Text says, Climate Fresk"

Want to help tackle climate change but don’t have the time to become a climate scientist?

PLAY YOUR PART IN THE CLIMATE TRANSITION BY JOINING THE CLIMATE FRESK MOVEMENT!

In just 3.5 hours, the collaborative Climate Fresk workshop will teach you the fundamental science behind climate change and empower you to take action. Workshop scheduling is underway, here at Western Michigan University.

What is Climate Fresk?

Climate Fresk is a powerful tool for providing a quality climate education. It is an internationally adopted, interactive, and highly engaging experience that introduces participants to complex causes and consequences of climate change. Climate Fresk is accessible to anyone and can be scaled quickly within an organization or community. In order to take action and build solutions, we first need to understand the problem. Please take a minute and explore Climate Fresk.

Why?

WMU study abroad students have participated in Climate Fresk workshops while visiting the circular economy professionals at Hewlett Packard in India. Student feedback is often that “you need to bring this experience to WMU!”

Who?

The WMU Center for Sustainable Business Practices at the Haworth College of Business, Haenicke Institute for Global Education, Office for Sustainability, and Climate Change Working Group are collaborating on this climate change literacy, education, and solutions initiative. Guest trainers from Hewlett Packard will lead early workshops and will train new Climate Fresk facilitation trainees in closed sessions after November 11.

Can I be trained as a facilitator?

Collaborators are in the process of scheduling 20 WMU trainees, but are prepared to expand the invitation beyond WMU to other local sustainability and climate change educators and professionals. Newly-trained Climate Fresk facilitators will be encouraged to schedule and lead practice workshops with a limited number of registered guests on November 16 and 17. Collaborators expect that more workshops will emerge beyond WMU through 2026 and beyond!
