What is the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Course?

As a new  degree seeking graduate student at WMU, you are required to complete the RCR course. While there are no fees or credit hours earned for this course, this is a university-wide requirement for all graduate programs. 

 

About the RCR

RCR General Information
The Responsible Conduct for Research (RCR) course is required for all new master's and doctoral graduate students (those enrolled in a graduate certificate program are exempt). The RCR course is comprised of several modules with a short quiz at the end of each module. You must complete the course with a 70% or higher to pass. 

You have until the last day of the semester to complete the course. If you fail to complete the course before the deadline, a hold will be placed on your account until the course is completed. No fee or credit hours are associated with this course. 

2025-26 Deadlines:

  • Spring 2026: May 2, 2026

Graduate certificate students are not required to complete RCR course.
